Brief overview of the role:
The Head of Factoring role will have a strong focus on risk management, customer service, and team leadership and requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on management, making it both challenging and rewarding.
Key Areas Include:
- Client Portfolio Management: Overseeing a portfolio primarily consisting of Factoring and CHOCCS clients.
- Risk Management: Ensuring effective risk management practices are in place.
- Customer Service: Delivering excellent customer service.
- Sales Liaison: Proactively working with the sales team.
- Team Management: Managing the Client Management team and monitoring processes and controls.
- Authority and Decision-Making: Operating within set parameters to make decisions.
- Product Knowledge: Understanding various Invoice Finance and Asset Based Lending products.
Role includes but is not limited to:
- Team Management: Ensuring the Client Management team operates smoothly and effectively.
- Operational Risk Oversight: Managing risks related to overall client performance and credit files.
- Client Relationship Management: Overseeing relationships, assisting Client Managers, and directly managing relationships with larger clients to ensure retention.
- Risk Response: Implementing actions in response to risk events or statistical deterioration.
- Process and Product Development: Assisting in the development and implementation of new processes, controls, and products.
- Alert Management: Handling daily alerts from Companies House or Credit Safe.
- Legal Actions: Overseeing legal actions, including debtor litigation and guarantor processes.
- Collect Out Monitoring: Ensuring all collect outs are satisfactorily concluded.
- Risk Reporting: Escalating and reporting to the Risk Director.
- Guidance and Authority: Providing guidance and higher authority within limits for overpayments and facility restructuring.
New Business
- Operational Support: Providing operational input to the new business team for their deals.
- Deal Transfer: Ensuring a seamless transition of deals from the Sales team to Operations.
Risk Management
- Weekly Reviews: Conducting weekly reviews of Client Management (CM) escalations, including impending disapprovals, verification levels, collections, and turnover.
- Monthly Reviews: Reviewing year-to-date (YTD) statistics on a monthly basis.
- Portfolio Risk: Overseeing the overall risk of the portfolio.
- Compliance: Ensuring robust and updated compliance processes for data protection, money laundering, etc.
Other Responsibilities
- Month-End Duties: Ensuring all charges, including minimums, are appropriately applied.
- Fee Management: Ensuring all collect out fees and diarised fees are completed.
- Facility Amendments: Advising on and undertaking all facility amendment letters and security checks.
- Training: Training new Client Managers and making recommendations at the completion of their probation.
- Additional Duties: Performing any other duties related to credit and risk management as they arise.
- Process Improvements: Recommending and implementing process improvements.

- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics
- UK Finance Qualification
Previous Experience
Essential
- Demonstrated success in managing a team.
- Experience of Risk Management.
- Product knowledge – Factoring / Invoice Discounting.
- Managing client relationships .
- Operational experience within Invoice Finance and/or wider Commercial Lending.
