Regional Originator- East of England
Business Development ~ Broker
East Anglia, Suffolk – East of England
The Regional Originator is the primary regional contact for the fund on the ground. The role carries responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with intermediaries, advisers and SME owners across the Region, and for proactive deal origination across the full ticket range.
This is a hybrid origination and credit role. Volume at the smaller end of the range is handled by an automated application and scoring process, which frees the Originator to concentrate on generating pipeline and on the qualitative credit work that materially informs underwriting in the middle of the range. On larger transactions the Originator works alongside the established deal team.
The Region is expected to produce a high volume of applications across a wide ticket range. The involvement of the Originator in the credit process scales with facility size. Loans up to £250,000 Applications are submitted by the borrower through the website and assessed automatically, producing a decision without individual analyst review. The role at this level is to generate application volume, direct enquiries and introducer referrals to the online application, and triage out-of-mandate enquiries before they enter the process. There is no individual credit workload attached to these transactions.
Loans above £250,000 and up to £1,000,000 Applications follow the same online route and are scored on the same basis, but require further analysis before a credit decision is taken. The Originator performs that analysis, including, where applicable, the enhanced qualitative assessment, site visits, regional reference checks and on-the ground commercial diligence, and provides written input into the credit paper. This is where regional knowledge of borrowers, sectors and intermediary references adds the most value, and it is the core analytical component of the role. Loans above £1,000,000 The Originator originates and qualifies the opportunity and then works alongside the existing Deal Team on writing the business, contributing full qualitative assessment, site visits, regional context and supporting diligence to the credit paper. Structuring and execution are led by the deal team.
